ACC Bernard Higgins

Assistant Chief Constable Bernard Higgins has over 32 years policing service and has been a Chief Officer since 2012.

He is vastly experienced in delivering high profile and high risk events, including a key role in Glasgow Commonwealth Games in 2014 and as Gold Commander for the Scottish Independence Referendum, Ryder Cup, numerous parades involving extreme right wing and republican organisations and high risk domestic, European and international football matches.

In November 2019 he was appointed, by Chief Constable Iain Livingstone, as Gold Commander for the policing operation supporting the delivery of the United Nations 26th Conference of the Parties – COP26.
